Elcometrine (Segesterone acetate, Nestorone) is a steroidal progestin which is used as a hormonal contraceptive and as a treatment of endometriosis. Upon oral administration, Nestorone undergoes rapid metabolism and inactivation. Several clinical trials have been performed with Nestorone administered via subdermal implants. NCATS
